Former Swimsuit Model Turned Actress Shifts Gears With Her #MeToo Movement Musical Response

New York, NY, January 14, 2018 — Greta Blackburn, a former swimsuit/lingerie model turned actress, whose acting credits include the movie 48 Hrs., the TV miniseries V: The Final Battle and cult film favorite Chained Heat, now adds singer-songwriter-activist to her list of credits. With her chilling and evocative edge new release, “Look What You Made Me Do” she memorializes her personal #metoo experience of decades ago

“I was not inspired, I was driven to write the lyrics to this song based upon my own personal experience that took place decades ago. I was a young actress and model, newly heartbroken by the demise of a longterm live-in relationship. I was invited by someone whom I had recently met and assumed was “safe.”  This NY real estate mogul invited me to his home for a supposed party for the comedian Dick Shawn and a host of others. I saw the invite as a chance to meet some nice people,” Blackburn explains. “Imagine my terror when I found myself alone with the “host” of the party. As the night wore on and still no guests appeared, and after the “host” brazenly took a nude swim in the indoor pool right in front of me, I realized that the “party story” was a scam. To call what happened “date rape” is to minimize the premeditated, evil intent this jerk had planned. No one knew where I was. I fully expected to be murdered and buried in the woods behind the house, never to be found. Before he locked me in one of the guest bedrooms, and just after “the #metoo event” he looked at me with disdain and said, “Look what you made me do. “ I can still remember the hateful tone of voice and that ..that ..LOOK on his face,” Blackburn references one of the lyrics.

Blackburn can relate to the countless other women who were too embarrassed, too ashamed and who felt somehow responsible for the forced sexual encounter. When she finally tricked her assaulter into letting her go the next day she ran to the rental vacation home of friends who were nearby. They encouraged her to go to the police.

“It’s hard for anyone to understand who hasn’t endured something like this to understand someone’s reluctance to go to the police. I had willingly accepted an invitation to go to Mr. Big’s home. I didn’t want, especially back then,  to go through the doubt, blame and embarrassment for being so gullible. I did know that someday the truth would come out. I just didn’t imagine it taking the form of a song written and performed by me,” Blackburn says.

All that’s left to complete the story is a face- to- face confrontation Blackburn plans with her assaulter. “I don’t even know if he is still alive. But I’m going to find out. He won’t be difficult to find, he is- or was- a major player in the NY real estate and philanthropy scene.”

Greta Blackburn Creates Theme Song For Upcoming Hollywood Film Release “Lockdown”

New York, NY, January 06, 2018 — Greta Blackburn, whose acting credits include the movie 48 Hrs., the TV miniseries V: The Final Battle and cult film favorite Chained Heat, now adds singer-songwriter to her list of credits. A long-time music aficionado, Blackburn was inspired to write the eponymous theme song “Lockdown” for the soon-to-be-released action-thriller movie of the same name from High Point Pictures, staring Michael Paré and Bai Ling, and featuring Michael Wainwright, Scott Engrotti, Raj Kala, Incent Rivera and Chanel Ryan. By penning this theme song, Blackburn successfully launches a new chapter to her wide-ranging career.

“I’m so honored to be working with award-winning film director and producer Massimiliano (‘Max’) Cerchi on this action thriller,” stated Blackburn. “Like my first film Chained Heat, Lockdown takes place in a prison. And like Max’s cousin Michael Cimino’s classic The Deer Hunter, it’s a story about three bad guys along the lines of the Christopher Walken character in that movie.”

She adds, “The film, along with so many of today’s current events, inspires me to explore dark themes as well as elements of redemption. It’s exciting that this song shares the same vehicle as lead actors Michael Paré (Streets of Fire) and Bai Ling (The Crow).”

Blackburn’s co-writers on the song are members of her band Bitch Kitty and include Ricky Thomas, John Jacillia, Jack Pati and Bobby D. All Recording and production duties were handled by guitarist Nicky Moroch, whose credits include David Bowie and Madonna, and drummer Michael Sciotto, who has worked with musical luminaries including Jefferson Starship and Ace Frehley of KISS.

“We recorded at Michael Sciotto’s ESound studio in Ossining, NY, home of the legendary Sing Sing Prison,” Blackburn explains with an ironic smile. “Plus, the launch of the movie coincides with the 35th Anniversary of V! I am so thankful that Max Cerchi embraces my first foray into writing theme songs for cinema and television, and I am looking forward to the upcoming release of Lockdown.”
